Second Life and Lunch meetings (SLunch) begin Friday for this college year. Get your FREE avatar and join us.

The Kirkwood Second Life Group meets about once a week to explore the educational possibilities of the virtual world of Second Life and share ideas. Faculty, staff alumni and friends of Kirkwood Community College are welcome to join our group. We're here to help new members become familiar with how to use Second Life, where to find resources and answer questions.

Join us in the KCELT computer lab on main campus or log into Second Life from your location and meet us on the Kirkwood island. (You don't need an avatar to be a member of our group. Feel free to attend our meetings anytime or join the discussions on our Wiki and Facebook.)

Bring your lunch, bring a friend, and we hope to see you there!

Second Life and Lunch : Dewey Signs Lab

This week at Second Life and Lunch we are having another Lab to work on the Dewey Decimal Signs Group Project on the Kirkwood island. You can join this project at any time and new educational locations have been added to our list for you to choose from. You can find the current list here.

NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS:
If you join us virtually, we will be using voice, but you can communicate with the group through text. Don't forget to sign up for this free KCELT session on the Kirkwood EagleNet whether you plan to join us in person or virtually. Faculty members receive Professional Renewal Credit for all KCELT sessions, but you have to sign up to receive credit. Second Life and Lunch: Simple Building Tips

If you missed last week's "Let's Start Building" session of Second Life and Lunch, don't worry about being left behind. This week we will review last week's session and continuing our series on building and scripting with Simple Building Tips. We're going to create some basic shapes, go over some things that will keep you from tearing your hair out when you're learning to build, and then we'll do some collaborative building with dominoes.

Second Life and Lunch: Genome Island

Join us Friday, January 18, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the KCELT 153 computer classroom for "Second Life and Lunch." This week Greg Petersen will give a tour of Genome Island and discuss how this sim can be used in the classroom. This presentation will be projected onto the big screen, so you don't have to have a Second Life account to attend. Bring your lunch, bring your log-in information and bring a friend.
